Abstract
This talk “Making Equity Count: Measuring and Applying Health Inequality Aversion in Practice” will explore recent advances in measuring and applying health inequality aversion in the evidence supporting health decision-making.
It will highlight key methodological considerations, including how estimates depend on underlying levels of inequality, the implications of using different health metrics, and the challenges of transferring aversion parameters across population groups. The talk will also demonstrate how these estimates can be translated into equity weights and applied in practice, using an example relevant to New Zealand.
